This was one of those movies we had to sneak and watch at the friends house who had a mom who a little more chill than ours lol.
While laying on the couch waiting for The Players Club to come off commercial break one scene will forever live rent free in our heads. The scene where Ebony is drunk and stumbling back in the club to do a private party when Diamonds tell her "Make the money, don't let it make you!"
We absolutely love the symbolism behind that infamous line especially when there is so much pressure to keep up with The Jones. We can thank social media for that one.
For us at ATWG this means, no matter how our finances are going or what we have to gain financially, compromising who we are at the core, means it's simply not worth it. It is crucial to us that we respect and uphold our character and morals. We can't let our environment and external factors change us. Remember Ebony started out as the sweet girl only to become out of control with the drinking, partying and prostitution. Allegedly. She dropped out school, completely forgetting the reason she stripping in the first place. Okay, we may have made that up, it's been yearsssss since we've watched the whole movie. But you get the point.
Do what you have to do. Remember you're why and don't let all the extra get you sidetracked and all unfocused.
Also if your money is low, it doesn't determine your worth. It's in you, not on you! Figure out a plan and get back to the money, cause girls are playas too!
